Badbarbie presented a Christmas workshop during our crop weekend last November. She showed us a few different ways to use plastic balls to make simple and quick Christmas ornaments, ideal for a little gift or to simply to hang in our own tree.
Here are the models she suggested :
All the models use split plastic balls.
Materials for ball #1:
- Magenta chipboard snowflake
- Acrylic paint
- Snowflake-shaped rub-ons and/or Peel Off’s
- Ribbon
- Stickles glitter glue
- Paper scraps
What to do :
- Cover the chipboard snowflake with paint. Let dry.
- Apply the rub-ons and Peel Off’s to the ball and the chipboard snowflake.
- Apply Stickles glue on the ball.
- Cut out the paper scraps into confetti using round punches in various sizes.
- Insert the chipboard snowflake and the confetti in the ball, close the ball and add a decorative ribbon to hang.
Idea: Personalize your chipboard snowflake with the photo of your kids as a gift.
Materials for ball #2:
- Rub-ons in the shape of a chain Peel Off’s border sticker
- Ribbon
- Paper snow (which can also be replaced with Polar White Flower Soft or cotton balls)
- Cricut machine with the Winter Woodland cartridge (if you don’t have the Cricut or the appropriate cartridge, you can also use stamps or clipart to make this project.)
- Round punched shape
What to do :
- Using the Cricut, if applicable, cut out 2 trees. Then, cut a slit in each, on the bottom half of one and the top half of the other. This way, you can insert one in the other to make a 3D tree.
- Adhere your 3D tree to the round punched shape to make it stand up.
- Insert the tree in the ball and adhere it with a small 3D dot on the edge, to secure it.
- Add the « snow » of your choice and close up the ball.
- Decorate with rub-ons or Peel Off’s borders, taking care to hide the 3D dot holding the tree up.
- Add a ribbon to the top of the ball to hang.
Materials for ball #3:
- Pearlized Pébéo glass paint (shiny)
- Peel Off’s snowflakes
- Ribbon (one to insert in the ball and one to hang)
- Cricut machine with Winter Woodland cartridge (if you don’t have the Cricut or the appropriate cartridge, you can also use stamps or clipart to make this project.)
What to do :
- Paint the inside of the ball with the Pébéo glass pearlized paint.
- Insert a ribbon inside the ball to decorate and close up the ball.
- Add Peel Off’s snowflakes to the surface of the ball.
- Using the Cricut, if applicable, cut out the mittens and decorate them.
- Add a ribbon to hang the ball, and you’re done.
